A Little Bit of Yellow

Hey there, welcome to Pieces and Patterns on this cold winter day in January.  I thought I would share a few cards that remind us of bright, sunny days.  We all need a pick-me-up once in a while!  I hope you enjoy!

I love the color yellow.  It always seems to lift my spirits and make me smile.  Daisies and Moonbeam Coreopsis are among my favorites.  This card captures both. Since Valentine's Day is just around the corner, it is a good time to make a card or two for a friend.  The "You and Me" caption allows your card to fit just about anyone.

Having a kid's birthday card on hand is always a plus.  These two are a perfect fit!  The little girl with a cupcake is a My Favorite Things acrylic stamp.  I love the little cherry on top!

Stampin' Up! has a set called "Little Boys" that I love to work with.       It perfectly captures the heart of a little boy!
If you notice, the background paper is made up of overlapping road lines just perfect for Match Box cars!

My mother-in-law taught me to quilt a year or two
ago.  I always wondered what a "card quilt" would look like, so I did a bit of digging.  I quickly discovered there were many talented ladies who shared my thoughts. I found some amazing designs.  This is the first one that I tried.  I have continued to experiment with a variety of designs.  I hope to share some of those with you soon!

On a trip to Lancaster, my friend Brenda, suggested that I stop at one of the local scrapbooking stores she had happened upon.  To my delight, it was full of stamping supplies and also something that most would not expect in a store of that nature.  I found wall after wall stacked with bolts of beautiful material…a quilter's delight!  Lining the border of the room, the owner had displayed cards made with material.  Some had fussy cut images.  Some had small swatches of fabric.  The designs were amazing.  I gave my hand a try at a very simple design.  I love the denim blue and yellow contrast.  I can't wait to design a card with the pink and blue button material I picked up…

I am so glad you stopped by today.  I hope you are inspired to put your hand to a bit of creativity, too!
See you soon!
